What is partnership ministry? Thats a great question and we really are so glad you asked.
At its base partnership ministry is ordinary people joining together to reach a common but extraordinary goal. Each one using their gifts and callings to create a synergistic team, capable of reaching far beyond what they can do as individuals. In Leviticus 26:8 it says that 5 can chase 100, and 10 and chase 10,000! That’s partnship ministry.
Partnership ministry has several components and each one is so important in reaching the lost.
1st Partnership is an answer to the question “How can we effectively reach the lost?”. As Christians we are all concerned with our family members, friends and co-wokers who need to know the love of our savior Jesus. But we are also concerned about the millions around the world who also need His love. By partnering with missionaries around the world you can extend your reach to the nations.
2nd Partnership is relationship. Beacause you know the missionaries you’re partnered with, you are up close and personal through yearly updates, monthly newsletters, and various direct communications.
3rd Partnership is answering the call of the Great Commission. Matthew 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit (New International Version). You may not be able to go to the nations by yourself but we can all go as part of partners team.
What Partnership Ministry is not.
Partnership is not financial support. Financial support puts the emphasis on finances. The answer to reaching the lost is more than finances. Its prayer, vision, finances, sacrifice, calling and people willing to work as a team to name a few.
A biblical precedence for partnership ministry.
In Romans 10:14, 15 there is a well known scripture that we use as a part of the Roman road to salvation. Its reads “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”
The apostle is outlining a plan to reach the nations. By partnering those who can go, with those who can send we can bring the beautiful news of salvation to the nations. A close look at Paul’s life reveals 2 methods he used to do the work of the ministry. Tent making (supporting himself in Acts 18:1–4), and partnerships with individuals and churches.
One of the fathers of modern missions Willian Carry once said “There is a gold mine in India, but it seems almost as deep as the center of the earth. Who will venture to explore it? I will venture to go down, but remember that you must hold the ropes.” Mr Carry understood that by himself he would be limited, but as a team, they could reap a harvest of thousands that would last generations. As a result he spent 41 years ministering in India and his legacy is still felt to this day.
Pray about your role, what can you do to reach the nations and fulfill the the great comission. Together we can make a difference.
